Tattoo Removal FAQ

How does tattoo removal work?

Laser tattoo removal uses a specific laser energy to break up the ink pigment in the skin.  The small ink fragments are then flushed out of the body.  A series of treatments leads to removal of the tattoo ink from the skin; approximately 20% improvement is seen after each treatment.

Which tattoos can be removed?

Innovative advances in tattoo laser technology now allow for us to remove nearly all tattoos.  Black tattoo ink was traditionally the easiest tattoo ink to remove, but advancing laser technology now allows the removal of all colors (even red, blue and green, which were previously considered very difficult to remove.)

How long does tattoo removal take?

Depending on the size of the tattoo being treated, one laser tattoo removal treatment can take between five minutes and thirty minutes.  Traditional tattoo removal methods involve performing one tattoo removal treatment every six weeks. We now offer our patients the newest tattoo removal technique, which allows for faster and more effective tattoo removal.  The R20 technique allows for up to four treatments to be performed during a single visit, which makes the tattoo removal process work faster than it previously did.

How much does tattoo removal cost?

The cost of tattoo removal varies by the size of the tattoo being treated.  Most tattoos cost $400 per treatment for removal, though larger tattoos may cost more to remove.  During your initial consultation, we will give you a quote for the cost of tattoo removal treatments.
